The Columbia River channel has an operating depth of 43'. That's plenty of available draft for most deep water shipping as evidenced by the growing bulk shipments of wheat, corn and soybeans. THE problem with keeping the container business here is the ILWU's unwillingness to work with the terminal operator at T6. Solve that and the ships will return.
