Uh... Eric,
Need to go back and READ all the post. In my first post, I was referring to a radio report I had heard. Once I had found out the "real" location, I corrected myself. The area that the ORHM is located in has made a big turn around from the way it use to be. Most of the old warehouses along Water Ave have been converted into retail and apartments. Even though the ORHM is in a tight spot, being part of and within walking distance of OMSI, I think it is not that bad of a location. If Ross were to move the cement plant, it would even be better. Wonder how much it would cost PGE to move the sub-station across the street from OMSI? More display area for the ORHM! And don't forget. The city of Portland is the legal owner of the 3 steam engines. It could be a real hassle to move them out of the city. Only guessing!!
Unless they make them replace the boilers with electric motors....
