Mook you can fly in the US without a passport. I did it last month
Regarding Canada....
Many years ago I took a day trip from Seattle to Vancouver by bus. While I was there I bought a 12 pack of a beer not sold in California for a friend. At the border the Canadian customs agent said I could only bring in six and he made me pour out six bottles even though someone in line behind me offered to declare them. I had wrongly interpreted the Canadian policy. Maybe a different agent would have been gracious and allowed the other person to declare the beer
