actually the mercury news is owned by the alameda newspaper gr,oup, based in colorado, they
also own the oakland tribune, fremont times, and the san mateo times (now called the san mateo
county times), originally all these papers were printed at the oak tribune plant, but now are
printed in a new facility in fremont, only the editorial staff of each paper and a few reporters remain from the original papers, everybody else was let go, all these papers including the
sf chronicle, are basically rewrites off of the news wire, end of commercial journalism
