I'm aware of two of the situations to which "E" referred...

The Kentucky Railway Museum is in its third location in the Louisville area. The first location in northeast Louisville was in the Ohio River flood plain and was put underwater at least once. The second location, just northeast of the city near St. Matthews, was redeveloped for residential and commercial uses. Their third and current location is south of the city at New Haven on the former L&N Lebanon Branch.

The preservation groups in Portland had to move out of the former SP Brooklyn Yard roundhouse when the Union Pacific wanted to redevelop the property for its intermodal yard. They vacated in June 2012 and moved into their new facility, the Oregon Rail Heritage Center, in September of that year.
