XpressWest/DesertXpress rises again - with Chinese backing this time

Per the LA Times [www.latimes.com] XpressWest is about to do a deal with China for financing and trains. Which means the Las Vegas line project could get reactivated.

Not clear yet if the Chinese money is enough to do more than the original Victorville-LV leg. XW did have a concept to extend to Palmdale alongside a new Hwy 138 (which is still in study stages). If they go to Palmdale and access LA via perhaps upgraded Metrolink tracks, is there still a need for the Tehachapi-Palmdale loop of CAHSR? Perhaps ... XW once made noises about meeting CAHSR there ... but perhaps not.
