Actually the High Desert corridor work is progressing nicely, although the item on it go pulled from yesterday's Committee meeting at MTA. and, several Chinese companies that have done "public-private-partnership" toll roads are reportedly in CA... They appear to be running into some of the same problems that the Spanish companies did when they explored this several years ago (the public sector contracting game the vested interests are stuck with now, involving the "circular flow" we all know from Econ 101, in this case of campaign funds, from contractors to politicians, and back), because CA has no real way to take bids to "franchise" these projects for toll financed private investment.

It's an interesting development, for what has been a well planned, environmentally clearable, and potentially profitable project, especially if they can get to LA via Palmdale Lancaster, and make a "high speed" connection directly into LA.
