If this guy for real?
Its a good example why the roads don't like to hire foamers. As someone stated, the railroad really dodged the bullet getting rid of this guy. I can see why the crew was pissed because of you staring at a box car. While you were doing this, you were not paying attention to your job or what was going on around you and very well could have missed a hand sign. A person possibly dead or property destroyed. This isn't a game. Its for real.
You are just the type of person that carriers don't want around and you stated this in your own words. Find some other job where you can't possibly kill a fellow employee.
I have had my share of rail fans make trips with me as a student fireman. It only takes a few minutes of Q & A and you can see if they are a danger to themselves and others.
On the other hand I know a lot of guys that hired out and they were fans but kept their mouths shut, and ears and eyes open. There is one that just retired and he is on this and other sites. I first noticed him riding a bike up to the depot at SLO around 69-70. He was a student at Cal-Poly. Saw him for a number of years and all of a sudden he was a brakeman. It wasn't very long after that he was an engineer. A dam good one too. But he knew about rail fans and he never talked much about it.
