In 67 on the Coast they were called "The Zipper" or "The Advanced Zipper" In 1958 they were called the same thing.
# 373, The Zipper" ran daily, out of SLO at 12:10 AM. No.#75, The Lark left SLO at 2:25 AM. No. 373 & 374 met at Santa Margarita at 1:05 AM. The Advance Zipper, No. 371, ran daily except Sat.Sun & Mon. Departing SLO at 11:30 PM., meeting #374 at Templeton and #76 at Bradley at 1:21 AM.
West had right over eastbound trains of the same class. These were all First Class trains.
No.#371 arrived San Jose at 4:20 AM and was all done.. No. #373 went all the way to the City arriving at 6:30 AM.
No. #372 left the City at 3:55 PM and #374 left the City at 7:35 PM except Sunday. There was no #90 or #91 at the time.
In 1958 it was called the Coast Division and went all the way to Santa Barbara. It shows No. 90 & 91. No. 90 (Sad Sam) arrived SLO at 9:07 AM, only meeting No. 75 at Elkhorn at 4:32 AM. No. 91 was out of SLO at 8:00 AM and only meeting No. 98 at San Lucas at 10:29 AM.
I have a few old TTs from the LA end if anybody wants that info.
