Very nice photos, Graham. You can tell that the installation in "Bridge Yard" was first class and well maintained. They used 90-pound rail throughout. Most of the ties on the bridge, if not all, were redwood !
After April 20, 1958, A&K removed over 400,000 ties made of redwood. I knew Al Boyd who had his office in West Oakland on Helen Street.

In photo 1, the cement structure that is vacant, to the left of the photo, is the supports for the IER elevated flyover.
