my dad built our backyard fence in San Lorenzo from some of those redwood ties from the Bay Bridge that had been split into grape stakes. I also remember riding the bridge trains the last week that they ran as sort of a family good bye to the Key System.My dad's father went to work for Key predecessor California Railway and retired as a motorman on the Leona Heights streetcar line.I have always thought it was ironic that they started building BART some 10 years after abandonment of the bridge trains. The trains should have been kept on until BART was ready to take over. Oh well, politics I guess.
