Regarding the current UP 8444, the railroad used this unit as the diesel backup for the 844 when it came to the Pacific Northwest in September 2010. I have photos of the two at Albina Yard in Portland and heading out past Troutdale into the Columbia River Gorge on its way to the Pendleton Roundup, where they were on display during the Roundup's centennial celebration.
