This is because there already was an "Elmhurst" on the SP, adjacent to where 98th Ave crosses the tracks.

Later on you capitalize Double Track. Strictly speaking "Double Track", especially when capitalized, describes a type of Main Track configuration, which the Stonehurst "Branch" was not. Thus, while may have consisted of two tracks and later reconfigured to one, it was never Double Track.

What you say about the indicator/tracklight and bell/annunciator was also true for Melrose.
