According to a number of standardized math tests, of American teens and adults, we come out between the mid 20's and 43rd in math scores compared to other countries (often, against countries with a smaller percentage of college graduates....?). And, as we can see by some of this threads comments, it shows......
The average reporter usually doesn't have to take more than the "bare minimum" one required "college" level math class to graduate from college, and that clearly shows with the levels of media ignorance we too often see, as well...... Since this only requires a C in what is effectively a high school level "college" Algebra course, I don't really expect much....
Then, of course, there are the politicians.......those fonts of all wisdom and knowledge?
I used to watch quite a few RR folks screw up the air brake portion of their promotion exams, because it required some basic understanding of some fairly simple math......
Oh well....?
