The commission unanimously voted for staff to create a simple cost analysis and time line for three options: rail with trail, trail-only and a bus rapid transit system. The report will be presented Nov. 17.

Obviously using the rail corridor for a bus rapid transit system is DOA. If a trail only option is chosen the following will happen:
• The GGRM will not move to Santa Cruz.
• The SCBT&P beach train will cease operation. This would financially impact both Roaring Camp and The Seaside Company.
• The SC&MB will abandon the Santa Cruz Branch Rail Line and rail service for Watsonville rail customers will cease. The Watsonville biofuel plant may have to shut down without rail service.
