Interesting point, Mr. Bromley, on journalists considering a railroad property "rickety" because of dirt/graffiti/etc/ I'm not sure most reporters even get that far with it; most don't pay attention to that degree, likely believe that trains are big, loud and therefore dirty. Getting the nuts and bolts of a wreck or a last run or a first run is challenge, and stress, enough for most reporters who don't know the difference between a locomotive and a boxcar.
