Re: Marin/Sonoma County voters Support Smart Rail Plan

It always amazes me how rail supporters make stuff up.
BOB2 seems to think that opponents to rail are front
organizations. The facts are the opposite. Who funded
Measure R in 2006? Developers, unions, construction firms
mostly from Sonoma and freight interests. Who is Cynthia Murray
currently raising funds from? Same group.
Meanwhile, where did opponents get the few dollars they
had to oppose Measure R? Marin environmental organizations
mostly.
Meanwhile proponents spent over $500,000 promoting the measure
including the $90,000 spent by the SMART Board on an illegal brochure that was
sent to EVERY household in two counties.
Expect more money raised by proponents this time. Also, readers of
this forum should expect the rail tax to lose. Voters are not in a
tax supporting move. Enough of them will reject the rail project
for what it is: a lot of money ($1.6 billion ) for very little. No
congestion reduction. Hardly any global warming reduction. Hardly
any cars removed from the freeway. And...lots of noise associated
with the sweetheart deal they have with the NCRA.
Oh, by the way, no one believes those poll results.
It's the same crap the SMART Board did in 2006. The poll
they sponsored said the measure would easily win. It lost.
