a meeting was appently held this morning and the new expected date for the opening of the benewah trestle is the end of february.....(i did not ask which year!!)

the UP is absolutely shopping the Plmmer/Spokane line and folks are starting to line up. Hepkema is correct in that WATCO is one of those in line. but i cannot see potlatch (stma)letting watco take over a line that they need to get their trains "to market." after spending a million + to repair the benewah and other parts of the stma while down, i do not think they will be willing to be hostage to another short line. but stranger things have happened....especially in that part of the country.

as long as i am typing this, has anyone heard any more definite news regarding the repair or abandonment of the colfax/pullman line where the bridge burned out? or the replacement of the thornton/oakesdale line to tie those two sides together again?
thanks,
rolland
