I don't think this is the case. As popular as rail to trails has been in some places, and as beautiful as it could be on this line I feel the risk and expense is excessively high. The remoteness of the ROW could create its own set of problem for law enforcement from the mixed use the trail would receive.
It's not that we are saying that the POTB is not important to Tillamook, it's that it is not ESSENTIAL. While I understand that those that are part of the OCSR would consider it important and obviously you fatman feel its importance the rest of the shippers just don't feel that way. Actions speak louder than words.
This line should be abandoned. There is not enough traffic to justify its existence, even before the slides. However, I think the Governor understands that in the future that might change and he is willing to find a way give it yet another chance. He is just waiting for the other players to step up to the table and show their desire for that outcome too.
Anyone have any updates on what is happening with the PORT's Board?
