Dick,
The main portion of the line that was damaged was from Cochran (MP 800) to Salmonberry (MP 816). These 16 miles of track are the most remote and beautiful of the line through the Salmonberry River Canyon. If I remember correctly the total track lost due to washout and slide is in the neighborhood of 8000 feet. Additionally the west portal of Tunnel 25, approx. MP 790 was covered up when the hill side above slid down.

It is my understanding that all the permits and other paperwork is nearly in place to begin the Tunnel 25 dig-out. Once that is done there are some potental for revenue trains out of Cochran. The rumor out here is rock from the Cochran Pit and a Log reload.
