Back in the 70-80s there were more than one asleep/drank a beer fatl accidents on the SP around Indio. In one I believe it was the Blue Streak that ran into Indio at high speed
into a standing train. The other IIRC was around Thousand Palms.

Back around 1960 I and two hischool buddies rode the night local. I sat across from the other two in tha Cupola and could only see the short in of the floor. The conductor spoke in no uncertain terms to not speak of what had been seen. I asked my buddies HUH? and they said he was drinking from a pint of whisky.
