Years ago a group of politicians tried the whole "let's build an intermodal hub" dog-and-pony show to bring such a facility to Troutdale, to where FedEx and Amazon are now (the old Reynolds Aluminum plant).

Union Pacific made it pretty clear - they had absolutely, positive, undoubtedly, unquestionably, ZERO interest. None. Zip. Zilch. No go.

The project eventually died a quick and painless death.
