Over a thousand railfans gather, starting the Friday nite before with photo shows, and then all day Saturday with razzle dazzle multimedia photo show presentations by many of the "big" names in the hobby, both amateur and professional. There is an all day sale by various vendors of railroadiana, with booths featuring the works of and staffed by such names as Ted Benson, the Steinheimers (though his health may prevent him from being there anymore) the Feather river Rail society, Luckin from Colorado and his videos. Yes, there are those who attend who could use some soap, toothpaste and deodorant, but in general, it is a big grand reunion for many who come annually. Altamont Press will have a booth where all the latest timetables can be purchased and it is a great place to meet a lot of the people who post here and on Trainorders.
The whole event really has to be seen to be believed, including a trip thru the parking lot to check out the inventive personal license plates of the railfans.
Try it-----you'll get hooked!
