Very good point about the time required to implement. Muni could convert the #38 to trolley coach relatively quickly and expand storage at Presidio Yard. All this without having to fight with the businesses about parking.
Instead they want to go to the middle of the street lanes instead of curb loading. We'll see how that works out with many buses backed up on the line. And dangers to riders trying to get out to the loading platforms on a very busy thoroughfare.
The downtown portion of the Geary line yields itself to a subway, which would get around the complicated overhead switches needed when you get to Market St. Of course you might be able to go over to battery on that relatively short section.
