The NWP wood cars were scrapped, all the steel cars went to the PE, and they were compatible. The PE motorized the trailers.

The higher the voltage, the less the heating losses. This is hwy 550v became 600v, and is now 750v. !,200v became 1,500v, 3kv became 3,300v, and 11kv (AC) became 13kv (AC). Think of it as inflation.
