HSR is alive in CA with Branson and LA-LV. HSR is quite alive in Florida, with actual operating services. HSR, if you mean speeds of 110 mph. or more, as defined by the FRA, is very doable right here in CA.
It was actually poor Bill Bronte (Caltrans, Division of Fail), who was acting on Arnold's orders, with his braggadocio to impress the Chinese with offers to let them "sole source" it on one of those junkets he like to take, was the one who stole BOB's nickel, and delayed critical well planned projects that were truly "shovel ready" "stimulus" (back when we actually needed it???) for up to 10 years.
And, improved LOSSAN, and a connection for Richard Branson's train connection, via "evil" Palmdale (where those 'evil" developers will probably build "evil" housing, under or "evil" free market system????). Which could probably be done more efficiently, via a "faster" connection from LA to "evil" Palmdale, would also be on my earlier "wish list", even if it doesn't need to involve a 20 billion dollar (price is no object) "runaway money train" tunnel option.....
