What you’ve just described is called Trainorders.com.
It’s a moderated board with membership fee, and has high quality, rail related content.
Your suggestion to have the owner of Altamont Press manage a paid membership site and have strict content moderation is asking an awful lot of him for what is a losing proposition. I suspect no one would join. I don’t think he has time or interest in running and marketing a Trainorders II.
So if you want to pay for good content why don’t you join Trainorders???
