Well... Big Dope... I did clearly write in my original post that Ed had shot down the 4449 proposal and insisted the UP 844 could be used for the trip from the west. I was only passing along info I was told...how true it is who knows and I really personally don't care. My original post was mainly focusing on how there was no UP steam traveling the west end of the transcontinental route to complete the celebration tour this year "2019".. the very year of the 150th celebration. I only brought up the 4449 and 844 info I heard as an example of a missed opportunity to celebrate the entire route "east to west" with steam and not just the UP side of the route.
