A few years ago while we were driving up I-5 from Bakersfield I all of a sudden was getting sheriff's department transmissions from (I think) Lemoore or somewhere south of Fresno. I was on a railroad channel. I asked, most likely on the internet, TO or etc. and was told that some of the rr frequencies are leased to law enforcement, fire, ambulance in some areas. I know that when I used to sit down at Newhall yard in San Jose I would also pick up ambulance calls.
