Why would batteries pose a special hazard? Residential developments have been built above automobile parking facilities. I am not aware that anyone raised the issue of the gasoline in the tanks of those cars being an issue. With respect to fire safety, I'd feel safer with battery buses than automobiles with gasoline in their tanks.
