I have had serious reservations about this project for a very long time. Other than a few nit picking, is the quality of construction really that important. No historical or tourist operation has, can, or will survive on railfan support. If it were just railfans supporting them, the Silverton and the Cumbres operations would have vanished years ago.
Whether we, as railfans, like it or not, the support that will keep any operation in business is going to come from people who don't know or care how the grading and track construction compares to what the V&T looked like seventy years ago. By the same token, the use of steam is not going to be the long term draw as one hell of a lot of tourist just want to ride and don't care what is pulling the train.
