The gridlock on city streets in San Rafael is partly due to long station "dwell time" since San Rafael is the place where everyone going to the ferry has to transfer to a shuttle bus, the crew has to change ends to get ready to go back north, and the passengers waiting for the northbound train have to board.
The dwell time at the San Rafael station should be reduced because all of the above tasks will now be performed at Larkspur Landing, where the train does not block any crossings.
If so, that should tend to improve the traffic problems in San Rafael.
