david i do you know if that was why NWP 2472 acquired a distinctive carbonized look at that time? It had been rusting on the sleepers for years as you know and has been covered here but then it changed coloration likely due to being sealed in the tunnel during the fire.
Were there are damages to the engine? Obviously at this point it was no longer being used to switch the local industries when power was short, but still the restoration folks (I spearheaded the movement by coming up with restoration idea while driving by in traffic) probably were monitoring things.
Why don't they want to talk about it? Why keep it a secret? I say let's be open about the whole 2472 in Larkspur thing.
