I am a pretty ready and adventurous hiker, and there is no way I would head anywhere backcountry up that way. Have had one too many friends get shot at and / or run across razor wire or bear traps left by the pot growers. And even with legalization, plenty of nutty, off the grid and territorial growers and other types back there. I've had one encounter myself on cleared, marked public trail with a "sovereign citizen" who run me off with a shotgun. That is an encounter I do not wish to repeat.
