Mom and son plowed near Truckee

As reported in the Fresno Bee today, a 59 year old mother and her 22 year old son were struck by a 'Union Pacific Railroad train plowing snow' killing mom and sending son to nearby Truckee hospital with severe injuries. The couple were reportedly walking along the tracks thinking they were on a trail (the Overland Trail!!!) in near white-out conditions, and erred in judgement upon hearing the horn. Although the train was placed in emergency, they were struck as they mistakenly moved into the path of the train, instead of further away.
