Since the right of way, track and bridges is owned by the State of Oregon (or other governmental body) any salvage from removal of the line should be offered to the state's Short Lines at current NLV (Net Liquidation Value) which is the value of the rails, OTM (angle bars, tie plates, creepers, etc) and ties LESS the cost of removal before putting out to bid to outfits like A&K. Once the "low hanging fruit" is harvested by the short lines let the big boys remove the carcass!

Some of us could benefit from some of the larger rail and relatively new ties to upgrade our infrastructure.
