It is certainly SP&S 2, the eastbound streamliner, the connection to the former GN Empire Builder and former NP North Coast Limited, left Portland at 3:00pm. SP&S 4, which didn't really connect well with either the GN Western Star and NP Mainstreeter, left after dark at 9:00pm. From my first visit to Portland in July 1969, I saw the train many times behind a F3 or F7 and a GP9.
