If an agreement is in place between to two carriers, they may ask for an engineer as a pilot over their track. Pilot shows up, and its done.
That's all fine and good and how piloting works, but how were you, as an SP/UP employee, qualified to pilot anyone between KFS and Bieber, which is NOT SP/UP trackage and never has been?
Keep in mind that every time I ran 11/14 on the inside gateway, I was piloted between Haggin and KFS by a UP(WP) pilot from Haggin to Bieber line Jct, another UP/WP employee from the Jct to Bieber, and a BNSF pilot between Bieber and KFS. The cab was crowded at times.
