Yes it is the "Bullring", not as the howdy towdy's will tell you today the "Cornfield" Park. The Cornfield was around the bend, west of the "Bullring".
And, the "Cornfield" was not called the "Cornfield" because there was an old Mexican era "corn field" there, as the howdy towdy's will tell you on the tour of the wrongly named "Cornfield" Park. It's because of a "cornfield meet" that occured there.
And, the "Bullring" wasn't called the "Bullring" because a bull ring was there, either. The "Bullring" was called the "Bullring" because of the cattle watering station that required cattle to be watered enroute. The cattle were unloaded, watered, and reloaded. And, they hired young kids to herd them in an out, and they used to it looked like a bullfighters in a bull ring.
The perversion of our historical memory of our railroading past by so called preservationists "howdy towdy's" who don't know squat, don't do research, and just make stuff up, is alway interesting in LA?
So does anybody know where the "Pigeon Farm" was and how it got its name? How about the "Links"? Or Hoghead Valley?
Hint: Think squab, and think about the movie Finnegan's Dream.......... and, there was once a roundhouse at the bottom of the valley, next to the "Bullring"....
