May, 1968, the LA Mission Road coach yard closed. San Francisco coach yard was open for use because of the commute trains, so it was decided to use the Sunset's equipment on the Daylight so it could be cleaned in SF. The equipment on the Daylight before te switchover for the most part, was stored except during summer use or railfan excursions. Only the round end Daylight parlor car retained with the Sunset equipment between SF and LA and only in use two out of three days.
