The SP "Starlight" had long disappeared by this time, but the "Cascade", between Oakland and Portland, was operating with "Sunset" rolling stock among its consists. The book "Journey To Amtrak" includes a photo of the "Cascade" preparing to depart Oakland 16th Street Station with some "Sunset" cars in the lineup (the "Sunset" stock is distinctive, even when seen today, because of the rectangular plate on the side fluting that held the logo).
