Three days a week, the Sunset Limited ran from LA to New Orleans, with the through sleeper going to NYC. This equipment ran through to SF to be serviced and ran as the Coast Daylight. Parlor car service was one of the 10/6 sleepers.

Four days a week, a smaller conist of cars, baggage, automat and several coaches, usually Shasta Daylight cars ran. The parlor car in the beginning ran on two of these days. In 1971, it was reduced to one consist as SP retired one of the cars, leaving a single round end parlor to survive to Amtrak.
