ATK ran the SAC-BFD trainsets like this: Oak-Bfd, Bfd-Sac, Sac-Bfd, Bfd-Oak, and it made for a long trip for the LSA in the snack car.

There was no direct connection between the BNSF and Atk in Oak or Sac, so if the SJ train received a BNSF unit in BFD, the BNSF wanted it returned to them at BFD. A freight unit leased ("loaned") to Atk is considered an ATK locomotive for the duration of the lease.
