I hate to keep this thread running, especially since it detracts from the post (which is a great picture). But I have to disagree with Dr. Zarkoff. Railroad station names are not fixed, as they can change with railroad takeovers and such. In addition, there are a few railfan's who are particular about such minuscule details. I generally call them "foamers." It is the fanaticism of this group which is why railfans as a whole are stereotyped. When most people come across a minor error such as this, they ignore it, especially when everyone knew exactly what was meant. But the proverbial "foamer" just can't let it go. Yuba Gap may not be a place on the railroad (offically at least), but if you are trying to describe the location of a photograph to a large audience, as is the case here, using the common name makes more sense. If Drew would have said "Yuba Pass" instead of "Yuba Gap", I actually would have thought of the next exit, at the junction of I-80 and Hwy 20. Why? Because this is what the maps call that location. This is not about right or wrong, it is about what IS. The vast majority of people call this location Yuba Gap. Is that technically correct? Perhaps not. Does it get the point across? It did for the vast majority.
