Since I started all this by posting two damn pictures, I am going to say a couple things which some of you won't like.

One, I never worked for the SP, Cal Trans, or the USGS and I will call it whatever I damn well please.

Two, I am not sure if I want to post anything shot in that area again.

Three, if those of you who (like MDO) profess your expertise as aquired in the service of the Southern Pacific, if you are so damn good, why is Donner Pass inhabited by yellow locomotives?

Four, there is a canyon in the mountains above Downieville now called "Negro Canyon", a name aquired in the early seventies to provide an more acceptable name on USGS maps. To this day, no matter what it is called on a map, the name use by those familiar with the area has never changed.

Five, again, as I asked before, no matter what I called it, is there ANYONE who did not know where those photos were taken?
