As a public transit employee, I am appalled that someone would get drunk and then sit on a coupler between to two rail transit vehicles while riding a moving a train and disgusted at the thought of this case going through the courts.

As a liberal Democrat I am revolted by your generalization. However, as a liberal Democrat, I will grudgingly admit if right-wing Republicans were running the country, state of California and the City & County of San Francisco, these kinds of things would never happen. Right-wing Republican politicians would eliminate all federal, state and local funding for public transportation resulting on no rail transit systems on which incidents could occur.
