Maybe you should spend less time reading commentary which reinforces your narrow-minded beliefs of what liberals are and more time engaging in conversations. Maybe I am not a hard-core liberal (whatever that is), but I am a liberal because I believe in the power of government to accomplish positive ends (or at a minimum do what the private sector will not do which is plan, build, and operate public transportation).

Anyway, you ignore the fact that I am a public transportation employee which certainly informs my views.

I came across this article before reading it on Altamont Press and forwarded it to a colleague who was also astounded by the article.

Want generalizations? See the responses of many of the January 6 insurrectionists who had their feelings hurt upon being arrested and properly charged with crimes against Democracy.

It's true today. Republican views 50 - 100 years ago are not relevant to this discussion.

I would have not posted this commentary 30 years ago when Paul Weyrich wrote a brochure on why conservatives should support mass transit for the American Public Transit Association and when Republicans such as Bob Packwood, Arlen Specter, and Jacob Javitz supported federal funding for mass transit.

Today's Republican Party has become very anti-urban and with that anti-urban mindset is opposition to sufficient funding for mass transit.
