The solid waste crisis, with the landfills filling up very fast now, and no new ones likely to be permitted, could provide a significant source of traffic, within the next two-three years. The aggregate business has been hurt by the economic recession/depression. But, aggregate demand is beginning to stabilize in CA, where there had previously been a severe shortage. And, demeand for concrete and aggregate will rise as some of these highway construction projects are beginning to move forward.
I think it is just great that we are finally preserving and rebuilding our rail infrastructure for the future, instead of running it into the ground, wrecking it, and selling it as scrap.
And, yeah, as several posters have noted, on this topic for sure, some of the closet train haters, drop their "pose", can't help themselves, and jump right in to trash this project, in particular. But, I don't mind, it's kind of amusing in a way. But, as for some of the seriously nasty posts, of late-- please take them Topix with the other "ranting" types.
