An old Coast Division engineer named J. J. Clarke gave me a ride on 4002 in the Spring of 1970 from Menlo Park to San Mateo. We had to get out of the way of 98. I remember him getting on the radio and asking "Could you cross us over, please?" That locomotive was a Peninsula fixture for years. Glad to hear that she's still around.
