Thanks for adding that Jim. Yeh, they were little hotrods, they were. Chris Collins & I were out at Lathrop in April of '71 on the last day before Amtrak. We were waiting for 51, and one of the 4000's went by us first all by itself with a seemingly endless train. Very impressive. 4009 spent some time out at East Pleasanton in the early 70's as a switcher and we even had one in the Richmond Refinery where I worked, but her trucks didn't like the rail at the Santa Maria Loading Racks and she went on the ground. SP had to hire a big crane to rerail her & that was the last time one of them was ever used there.
